Masked Metamorphosis

Masquerade Fairy is new illustration I did as a side project for my sister who requested a large masquerade fairy poster design. It took me several days to work on/off for a while when I should have been doing other design homework and finals.

For added eccentricity, I gave the figure a steel-plated face to represent her partially mechanized, self-controlled pysche. The large hat and mask she holds portrays an enigmatic and sophisticated stance. The different color variations around her fade into one another exemplifying a sense of metamorphosis, just like the leaves of the tree begin to fall and change color for a new season or new stage of life.

Drawn in Adobe Photoshop CS4 with added textures
